After 2nd Democrat debate, Dems are now officially the party of open borders, "free" healthcare for illegals

Nationally, Democrats have been walking a fine line on the issue of illegal immigration.  They talk a good game about ‘securing the border,’ but it’s patently obvious that they don’t really mean it. The open-borders left is now the base of their party, and they’re catering to that base at every turn.

If there was any remaining doubt about their true feelings – and there really shouldn’t have been – they were laid to rest over the course of the last two nights.

Every single person on stage at the Dems’ 2nd debate made it clear that they tacitly support an open borders policy. That’s no longer up for discussion. The idea that any sort of strong southern border security will be implemented by any Democrat is now completely off the table.

To be clear, none of them will utter the phrase “open borders.” However, virtually every one of them is against the idea that crossing the border illegally should be a crime. They’ve also bought into Nancy Pelosi’s insane idea that there’s no reason to enforce any sort of internal immigration law.

So, if you’re not going to enforce the law internally, and you’re not going to make illegal border crossings a crime, you are the de facto party of open borders. There’s simply no other way to look at this:

Those sentiments were echoed by Elizabeth Warren and the rest of the participants in the Dems’ first debate.

Not a single Democrat on stage has said it should be a crime to illegally cross the border.

Make no mistake: The Democrat Party in 2020 is for open borders.

Last night, they doubled down.  Virtually every one of the would-be presidents raised their hands to support the idea that U.S. taxpayers should fund healthcare for illegal border crossers.  Apparently, not only are they to be allowed in, but they’re also to be cared for at American expense.

Moderator: Raise your hand if your government plan would provide health care coverage for undocumented immigrants.

This, by the way, is a disaster for the eventual Democrat nominee. This stance is wildly out of sync with middle-American voters, and will – without question – damage whoever the Dems’ candidate turns out to be.  There’s simply no way to sell this position outside of New York and California.

If there’s anything positive to say here, it’s that at least they’re being honest. We’ve known this was their agenda for years. Finally, they’re acknowledging it openly. It will inevitably hurt them, but hey.  If they want to lose the election, so be it.
