Earlier today, Dan told you that Attorney General William Barr has established a DOJ team tasked with investigating the origins of the FBI’s Trump/Russia probe. Conservatives know what that means. He’ll be digging into a wide range of subjects that could (and will likely) touch on the Carter Page FISA warrant, the Strzok/Page texts, the “insurance policy,” the tarmac meeting, Comey’s memo leaks, the decision not to prosecute Hillary Clinton, and efforts to spy on the Trump campaign.
For over two years, Democrats have insisted that there’s nothing to see here. They claim that everything was above-board, and that the Obama administration was completely hands-off in its approach. There was not “spying” to speak of.
Now, just in case there was any doubt left, AG Barr has confirmed that’s not the case. As he testified today, “spying did occur.” His investigation will determine if it was “adequately predicated” because, as he put it, “spying on a political campaign is a big deal.” In other words: was it justified, and was everything as clear cut as Democrats would have you believe?
